TERRY TEMPEST
WILLIAMS

18 October 2004, Seattle, WA

I am in Seattle. Tonight I have a reading sponsored by Rick Simonson at the Elliott Bay Bookstore. It is very quiet and I have the day to myself.

Bush is up in the polls by 7 percent. May it not be true. My cousin sent me this:

Vacation Days of Presidents

George W. Bush -- 98 days a year
Bill Clinton -- 19 days a year
Jimmy Carter -- 19 days a year
Ronald Reagan -- 41 days a year
George H.W. Bush -- 135 days a year

(from "How To Be President" by Steven P. Williams, Chronicle Books, 2004)
